New York Immanuel Brings Diversifying Ministries and Programs to Bronx Neighbors

Immanuel Community Church located in the borough of Bronx, New York City, shared plans of 2018 outreach programs and activities.

The church was previously in the downtown area of Manhattan before the congregation moved to the new location. It is the mother church of five other smaller congregations spread following the East Coast. Its recent relocation in Bronx brought a tremendous change of church programs and strategies in the new context.

"Bronx is an area that urgently calls for spiritual and nourishing ministry, where Immanuel can serve as the center for sharing Gospel to impact everyday life of residents," the lead minister, Isaac Hwang, said.

"Neighboring area of the church consists of a variety of different people from many nations with a great diversity, a numerous stories and cultural characters. However, the church will bring them together on the basis of the common ground, sharing of the truth."

The church administrative team reviewed the needs of the community to formulate programs that closely speak to people in the area. They created various platforms where many different christian organizations and fellowship groups can cooperate to ensure that the church building is filled with many useful and resourceful programs to reach out to different groups of people. People are first invited to Wednesday Service and Sunday Service, respectively held at the sanctuary with worship music. They hold regular bible studies on Wednesdays and Fridays at 5 PM, also at the same location. Ministers introduce more programs according to participants' interest and gift areas.

First of all, Immanuel hopes to maximize the space by working together with Para-church organizations as well as the bible seminary. Jubilee World also shared plans of holding music events to draw Christian musicians and people who desire to praise the Lord in the city.

Church is still in need of improving some parts of the building, outdated facilities and broken walls in one side are going to be soon renovated and replaced. The church building over hundred years old solidly stands in a crucial location to communicate the gospel to everybody in the area. Redeeming worship service and growing a congregation is a key task the church team strategically aims this year.

"We are deeply grateful that the Lord brought the church to this place and we believe there are many wonderful works to be done here to comfort His people," Pastor Hwang said.
